Hats off to Kerala Government : Good starting

All's well that ends well.

It was a new start, after the photo finish in State Assembly election.

Giving some hopes, the UDF Government in Kerala has lived up to our expectations so far. If we analyze the one-month rule of Kerala Government, Oommen Chandy leading the front has tried to do something good for the State or has done a few things.

Yes, Oomen Chandy is steering the team well.

I think, we should appreciate the State Government for taking some major decisions in favour of public. And, we should admit that there is a huge progress in development projects also.

Now, Keralaties has got a feel that we have a Government!

In the last five years, Kerala didn't have anything to cherish except worst roads and worst governance.

The latest buzz is that Smart City, an ambitious project of Dubai TECOM investments, will commence its operations soon in Kochi. Blissfully, Smart City can also operate service sectors. Apart from IT, Smart City can work on following sectors -  Banking, Media, Architecture, Design, Research and Development.

It was a slow start, but now the Kerala Government is on the right track. Though all media found time to disturb Government citing narrow margin in election, the Government survived it well. Now, even the left inclined media also praising Oommen Chandy for taking quick and prompt decisions.

Within a short span, Oommen Chandy has converted his vast experience as a politician for the welfare of Kerala. He is not a queen bee but also a super express in ruling.

After taking charge, the new government has taken some good decisions. Few of the same are mentioned below.

What Kerala has gained so far is
1. Re-birth of Smart City. As per Central Government's new CSEZ rule, Smart City can handle service sectors which will help to generate new employment opportunties in Kerala itself.

2. Banned Endosulfan in Kerala. Like in other cases, LDF Government, here also shouted and strongly supported ban. But couldn't implement!

3. Re-entry of Kochi Metro Rail project.

4. Action against corruption and criminals in police.

5. State Government gave up tax on petrol.

6. Distributed package for Endosulfan victims

7. Implemented Moolampilly package

Petrol price hike: Just before the new Government took charge in Kerala, the petroleum Companies raised the price of the petrol by about Rs 5.39 with effect from 15-05-2011. One of the decisions of the 1st Cabinet meeting of the new Government is to cancel the sales tax on the increase. The effect of the same is a reduction in the petrol price by Rs. 1.22. This is a small relief to the people of Kerala from the new government.

Endosulfan Sufferers: The new Government in its 1st Cabinet meeting decided to give some good relief to the Endosulfan victims of Kasargod District. The government decided to enhance the compensation immediately to Rs 1 Lakh from the previous government's decision of Rs 50,000/-. As per the details available 486 persons died up to 2008. The details of the persons died after that, if any will be found. The government has also decided to enhance the compensation to 5 Lakhs as per the recommendations of the human rights commission and has represented to the center for help for this.

Indeed, it is a good start for Kerala Government. A well deserved start that even reduced the headache of narrow majority. I hope, the master politician in Oomen Chandy would capitalize it and do more welfare projects.

Kerala Inc would be also happy with the State Government's performance, as the government is trying their best to attract investments and investors. And, the hallmark of this government is - quick decisions and quick implementation.

Happily, the Government also announced - all roads in the state will be repaired.

I hope this will be new beginning of Kerala and Keralites.

Wishing all the best for UDF-led Kerala Government that runs on with a solid promise - Development, Protection and Care.

Creating history, the Chief Minister's office will function round the clock. Yes, it's a new journey from now onwards.

Action speaks louder than words...
