HLL Lifecare and BSNL tie up for SMS campaign on blood donation

HLL Lifecare has tied up with BSNL to launch a SMS campaign on blood donation.

The campaign was launched on the Blood Donation Day, 14th of June by Kerala Health Minister Mr. Adoor Prakash in Trivandrum.


The campaign was meant to convey the importance of blood donation as a vital voluntary health service expected of every healthy and responsible citizen of the country.Mr Adoor Prakash said that people should take blood donation more seriously and should not just donate to their own relatives but also to poor people.

Kerala transport minister Mr V.S Shivakumar, Mayor K. P Chandrika, HLL MD Mr. Sreekumar, senior vice presidents Mr Babu Thomas and Mr N. Venkitaraman were present.

Awards were given to students, colleges and other organisations who donated blood several times last year. Transport minister Mr V.S Shivakumar inaugrated the blood donation campaign by donating his own blood at the event.

In addition to the blood donation campaign, a help-desk named “Heart Beats” was also opened for assisting the blood donors. This was organised in collaboration with the Kerala State AIDS Control Society.It was also revealed that the RCC and Sri Chitra alone require around 4500 units of blood every month.

The target of HLL-BSNL tie up is to reach over 5.5 million customers of BSNL in Kerala.
