Mainstream media should know about rare camaraderie between former Tamil Nadu CM J. Jayalalithaa and renowned astrologer Parappanangadi Unnikrishna Panicker who was a good friend of late M Kesavan Nampoothiry, my dear friend and father. While discussing about astrology and leading astrologers, my father used to tell about Panicker chettan who was astrology consultant to Jayalalithaa affectionately known as Amma for several years and their close relationship.

My father was a veteran journalist (he worked with The New Indian Express for more than 30 years), Astrologer and Bhagavatham exponent. He had shown special interest in writing as well as in publishing articles on spiritual (Bhagavatha Sapthaham, discourses etc) and astrology (Devaprasanam) related articles. 

Unfortunately mainstream media across the country including print, visual and online which shows special interest in digging news has forgotten a person from Kerala who shared cordial relationship with Amma, leader of mass. In my view, Panicker chettan is an unsung hero.

Parappanangadi Unnikrishna Panicker had close links with Jayalalithaa and used to visit her during powerful times. Amma visited Guruvayoor Sree Krishna Temple, Rajarajeswara Temple near Taliparamba in Kannur district as per Panicker chettan's advice. 

A section of journalists today may not know Panicker chettan well.
