Healthcare giant Apollo Hospitals forays into Kerala
Giving a big boost to healthcare industry in Kerala, the Chennai-based Rs 8,243 crore healthcare giant Apollo Hospitals has announced its foray into the state.
Apollo Hospitals, one of the largest private healthcare players in the country, operates 70 hospitals, 2556 pharmacies, over 172 primary care & diagnostic clinics, 148 telemedicine units across 13 countries.
The top management of Apollo Hospitals inked an agreement with Kerala-based Adlux Group, promoted by entrepreneur Puzhekadavil Sudheesan, to manage and operate a 250-bed super-speciality hospital in Angamaly. As part of the agreement, Apollo Hospitals will be responsible for all operations and management of the hospital. While Adlux Group will act as infrastructure partner.
The Apollo Adlux Hospital, located close to Kochi International Airport, is scheduled to begin operations in four to six months. "It will provide world-class health care services to people of all socio-economic strata in this region," said Apollo Hospitals Group Executive Chairman Dr Prathap C Reddy.
The hospital is part of the complex which currently hosts the Adlux Group’s International Convention and Exhibition Centre, which is the largest in South India.
The proposed hospital will have 50 beds exclusively dedicated to critical care. The hospital will begin service as a tertiary care hospital with an advanced oncology section planned for the next phase. The hospital will provide round-the-clock super speciality treatment with experienced specialists. World-class equipment with advanced technology like MRI, 128 slice CT Scan, Cardiac cathlab, mammogram, etc. with state-of-the-art laboratory and emergency facilities will position the hospital as one of the best in the region.
