Sharjah ruler at Kerala from Sep 24


Sharjah's Ruler and member of UAE's Supreme Council, Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, will arrive in Kerala on a five-day official visit from September 24.

Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi will arrive in Kerala on September 24 at 4 p.m., and the next day, he will call on Kerala Governor, Justice (retd) P. Sathasivam. Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and other top officials will also be present on the occasion.

After that, he will meet up with the state cabinet over lunch and in the evening he will interact with the cream of the civil society of the state and also the successful Kerala businessmen who have made it big in the Middle East.

Sheikh Sultan will visit the Kochi International Container Transhipment Terminal (ICTT) being operated by Dubai-based DP World. ICTT is the only international container transhipment terminal in India. The Sharjah ruler will also visit SmartCity Kochi being developed by Tecom Investments, a top official said. 

Sheikh Sultan is coming on an invitation from Pinarayi Vijayan, Kerala chief minister, who called on him last year during a three-day visit to the UAE.

On September 26, the Calicut University will confer honorary doctorate to the visiting dignitary at a function to be held in Kozhikode.

The next day morning he arrives at Kochi where he will hold discussions with business honchos before returning to Sharjah on Thursday.
