Top honour for Kerala-born NRI entrepreneur: Appointed as Major General of Kyrgyzstan

Shaikh Rafik Mohammed

Kerala-born NRI entrepreneur, Shaikh Rafik Mohammed, has been appointed as Major General of Kyrgyzstan. Rafik Mohammed is the Chairman of Saudi Arabia based Gammon Group, a multinational conglomerate. He was appointed as Major General of Kyrgyzstan at an official ceremony held in the Central Asian country. It is a rare honour for an NRI entrepreneur or Indian origin especially for a Keralite (Malayali).

I heard about Rafik Mohammed, his successful business journey and good network with Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) administrators three years ago. Ever since then I keep good rapport with his close associates and Gammon Group.

Rafik who hails from Kozhikode district in Kerala already holds Kyrgyzstan nationality conferred by its former President, Kurmanbek Saliyevich Bakiyev. Kyrgyzstan Government invited him to take up the prestigious military position in view of his valuable contributions to the country.
