Tribute to P. K. Mohamed, Managing Director, Western India Plywoods

Renowned industrialist P. K. Mohamed, the Managing Director of the Western India Plywoods Ltd (WIP), Kannur, passed away. He is the son of (late) A. K. Kaderkutty Saheb, the founder Managing Director of WIP, one of the oldest and largest plywood industries in the country.

I am fortunate that I got several opportunities to interact with him. He was very clam and cool. He also helped me to associate with Western India Plywoods in a big way. In every seconds, he was aiming development of Kannur.

He was instrumental in attracting investments to Kannur-known for political killings. I wonder why Kerala media ignored the story for this noted entrepreneur. Leading Malayalam dailies published the story in obituary page. What an insult? This is becoming a routine affair for Kerala media. They are not giving importance to entrepreneurs who played a key role in changing the society.

I urge Kerala Government to give deserving honour to this soft spoken businessman.

After the loss of Capt Leela Krishnan Nair, Kannur is losing another leading entrepreneur. A big blow forever...Therefore, the citizens of Kannur should take the effort to implement PK's vision - bring investments to Kannur.
