CK Menon: India's pride in Qatar

CK Menon was the MD of Qatar-based Behzad Corporation

CK Menon, affectionately known as Doha Menon, was an international business leader and statesman. Menon sir was ardent devotee of Ernakulathappan (Lord Shiva). Even while managing a business empire (Engineering to Energy, Transportation to Education) based in Qatar, he was down to earth and soft spoken. 

CK Menon was the Chairman and MD of Behzad Corporation, ABN Corporation and Ali Bin Naser Al Misnad Transport and Trading. The group has presence in Gulf countries, Sudan, South America and the UK. He also was the Director of Infrastructure Kerala Ltd (INKEL), a public-private-partnership (PPP) company set up by the Government of Kerala.

Had the opportunity to meet him several times, but our wish to meet this year became a dream. When I was in Qatar, Menon sir was in India.

Felt that Kerala Media forget to give a deserving farewell to a business tycoon; journalists might not be aware of his philanthropic activities because he stayed away from limelight. He had done lot of services to NRKs sans designation created by political wings, Vice Chairman of Norka Roots was just a post to him. 

His son JK Menon, Executive Director of Behzad Corporation, is close friend. We recollected our visit to group's steel factory at Pollachi and memorable memories.
