New Delhi: At a time when the Kerala government is promoting the state as an investor-friendly state, a Right to Information document (RTI) has revealed that only 50 new MSME units were started in Kerala Small Industries Development Corporation Limited (SIDCO) industrial estates from 2016-17 to 2026. This brought in an investment of ₹55.05 crore and created just 548 jobs.
SIDCO Public Information Officer stated this in a reply (dated 25th February 2026) given to Kochi-based RTI activist K. Govindan Nampoothiry.
At present, SIDCO oversees the management of 17 major industrial estates and 36 mini industrial estates in the state.
